❤️ Benevolence & Compassion Ministry
Caring for the Vulnerable Near and Far
At the Churches at Forest Meadow, we believe that caring for the poor and vulnerable is not optional for followers of Jesus. It is central to the gospel itself. Jesus came proclaiming good news to the poor, freedom for the oppressed, and hope for those living on the margins (Luke 4:18–19). As His disciples, we seek to reflect His compassion in practical, life-giving ways.
Our benevolence ministry exists to meet urgent needs with wisdom, humility, and love. We recognize that resources are limited, yet needs are great. Therefore, we seek to steward what God provides responsibly while remaining faithful to Christ’s call to mercy and justice.
🏠 Local Benevolence in Dallas

We serve a diverse urban community that includes refugees, newly arrived immigrants, and individuals facing chronic economic instability. Many who come to us struggle with:
- Food insecurity
- Housing instability
- Utility shutoffs
- Lack of medical or prescription access
- Clothing and basic household needs
Because the needs in our community are significant, we follow a structured pattern of care:
- First, we assist members of our partner congregations.
- Second, we assist individuals and families connected through ongoing ministry relationships.
- Third, we assist others in the community as resources allow.
This approach helps us remain compassionate while also being responsible stewards of the resources entrusted to us.
🌍 International Compassion: South Sudan

The “Months of Hunger”
One of the most urgent expressions of our compassion ministry is our ongoing partnership with Dinka communities in South Sudan.
Each year, from June through August, many families experience what is locally known as the “Months of Hunger.” During this season:
- Flooding destroys crops
- Disease spreads rapidly
- Food supplies are depleted
- Livestock losses increase
- Access to markets becomes limited
In particularly severe years, communities may lose:
- Up to 25% of children under five
- A disproportionate number of elderly persons
Families in these regions often live on an average income of approximately $650 per year. This level of poverty creates chronic vulnerability and makes even small disruptions life-threatening.
Through trusted local partnerships, we provide:
- Emergency food relief
- Support for vulnerable families
- Assistance for church-based community care
- Encouragement and discipleship for local leaders
Our goal is not only to alleviate suffering but also to strengthen resilient communities rooted in Christ.
🌐 Compassion Beyond Borders
In addition to South Sudan, we support ministries that promote:
- Justice and community restoration in Fort Worth, Texas
- Compassion and church development in Nepal
- Refugee support and gospel ministry in Myanmar
These partnerships allow us to extend the love of Christ across cultures and continents while remaining deeply connected to local realities.
✝️ The Biblical Foundation for Compassion
Scripture consistently teaches that God cares for the poor and calls His people to do the same.
- “Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord.” (Proverbs 19:17)
- “Let us do good to everyone, especially to those in the household of faith.” (Galatians 6:10)
- “Whatever you did for one of the least of these… you did for me.” (Matthew 25:40)
Our benevolence ministry flows from obedience to Christ, not merely from humanitarian concern. We seek to combine mercy with wisdom, generosity with accountability, and compassion with gospel witness.

❤️ A Ministry of Hope
We cannot meet every need, but we can faithfully respond to the needs God places before us. Each act of compassion becomes a testimony to the hope of the gospel and a reflection of the coming kingdom of God, where justice and peace will be fully restored.
